How To Activate your Amp'd Motorola Hollywood E816 on Verizon Wireless, Flash it with the Bell Mobility Firmware and get Java, OBEX OPP and VZW MMS working
Use At Your Own Risk!
Credits
Much of the work that went into making this possible was done by kbman and Goldmembr. Aenemic Royalty put together all the best Java App Packs for the E815. I would never have reached the level of understanding that makes it possible for me to write this document without Mark Venture's pages. And who knows where we'd be if Superdavex and jzidarski never bought V710's
Disclaimers
There is no way to go back! There is currently no E816 firmware available unless one is leaked your will always have the Bell firmware on your phone. You will lose "Airplane Mode", "Media Sync", "USB Drive" and PTT. The AMP'd firmware already supports OBEX Object Push Protocol with a seem edit so the only thing you will gain is Java. It couldn't hurt to do a full filesystem backup before you begin, but that falls outside the scope of this document.
Things can go wrong. If the flash goes awry it could brick your phone. I cannot be held responsible for anything that goes wrong with your phone. This procedure worked for me. It may not work for you.
This procedure requires software that is not readily available to the general public. You are responsible for your compliance with software licsences. I cannot tell you where to get any of these programs.

If you get a message to call customer service then do so. They will probably activate your phone. If they do then continue on to the next step.

This portion of the tutorial uses QPST which means we want the phone to be detected as a "Motorola USB Modem".
If it is not unplug it from the computer. Turn it off and back on and plug it in again.
If you have trouble with QPST go here
- Open QPST Configuration
- Highlight Your Phone
- Click "Start CLient" --> "EFS Explorer"

- Browse the phone's filesystem in QPST and drag the following items into place on the phone.
- Bell_E815_Files\brew\appdb\j2me.settings TO /brew/appdb/ (possibly overwriting an empty file)
- Bell_E815_Files\brew\en\jeodeken.bar TO /brew/en/
- Bell_E815_Files\brew\en\jeodekfr.bar TO /brew/fr/
- Bell_E815_Files\motorola\system\mma_ucp TO /motorola/system/ (overwriting the existing file)
